【抗癫痫药和神经性疼痛治疗药】普瑞巴林是一种新型抗癫痫药，它的分子结构上具有γ氨基丁酸结构，因而具有抗痉挛作用的，由辉瑞公司开发成功，用于治疗外周神经痛，或辅助治疗部分性癫痫发作。
2008年12月，美国食品和药物管理局（FDA）批准普瑞巴林（商品名”乐瑞卡“）用于治疗糖尿病性外周神经痛（DPN）和疱疹后遗神经痛（PHN）这两种最常见的神经性疼痛。
神经性疼痛是最难治疗的慢性疼痛综合征之一，以钝痛、灼热、刺痛为主要特征，神经痛的诱因很多，糖尿病、感染（如带状疱疹）、癌症和AIDS等均可引发神经痛，在欧洲大约3%的人群遭受着神经痛的折磨。
